First reference in South America – Successful IRIS project at Arauco
In early May 2025, Arauco – one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of wood-based panels – signed the acceptance protocol for Latin America’s first Internal Resin Injection System, IRIS. The system has been installed on Arauco’s MDF production line in Trupán, Chile.
The revolutionary technology injects resin from the center of the blowline ensures resin savings by optimized mixing of glue and fibers. At the same time, it requires less maintenance compared to traditional systems thanks to its only one nozzle. IRIS can be used for both UF and MDI resin and does not require high-pressure components or steam, which increases operational safety and lowers production costs, compared to traditional resin injection systems.
“Thanks to the new Internal Resin Injection System, we are able to save steam and reduce resin consumption, while maintaining all board properties,” says Gonzalo Mella Cartes, Production Manager at Arauco Trupan.
